What is transcript notation (TN)?

TN is a note added to a student's permanent academic record (transcript) in the "Comments" section. It briefly states that the student was "such-a-kind," of intern at "x-agency," or "x-school," and lists the city and quarters.

It provides UC Davis recognition for completion of an internship.

Transcript notation is not automatic and it does not fulfill requirements for academic unit credit.

TN does not occur automatically. At the beginning of each academic quarter TN applications (and internship proposal forms) are available at the ICC, 2nd fl., South Hall. The ICC is the only authorized provider of this service on campus. Academic departments CANNOT provide transcript notation. However, ONLY academic department faculty can sponsor internships for academic unit credit. Students should contact the ICC for TN and contact faculty in their major (or graduate program) departments for academic unit credit.

Students must apply for transcript notation.

Human and Community Development (HCD) students are eligible to receive TN in conjunction with 92, 192 and 292 (internship) course work as well as field work associated with HCD practicum classes. HCD practicum classes are designated as HDE 141, 142 and 143.

INTERNSHIP TIME REQUIREMENTS

At the beginning of each quarter TN application and proposal forms are available at the ICC, 2nd fl., South Hall. After a student has obtained an internship placement, then it is time to complete ALL the TN application/proposal forms. Students are required to attach a resume to the TN application. ICC Internship Coordinators and ICC Student Advisors are available to critique cover letters and resumes.
